Aside from protection of devices against breakage from drops, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is also said to deliver highest optical clarity and touch sensitivity during typing.
Corning claims that a laboratory test conducted on the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 showed that out of every 100 devices dropped face down on a rough surface from a height of 1.6 meters, 80 of the devices survived the drop.
And it is also good to note that it is almost practically impossible for one to use their smartphones for a whole year without having it dropped on the floor one or more times, and for that the need of tougher protective glass coverings for devices that is obtainable in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 was made.
